One of my goals for winter is to read more physical books. So I gathered all the books I haven’t read yet off my shelves to get me started. A few of them I just bought, but most of them are from at least a year ago. I want to get through all the ones on this list in 2019. Hopefully more!
Star Power by Vanessa Montgomery- I love astrology and this book was so pretty and pink that I had to have it!
Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado- I’ve been hearing amazing things about this book! I bought it for my friend Sarah for her birthday and also got myself a copy so we could have book club.
The Financial Diet by Chelsea Fagan- Another one of my goals for the winter is to start a budget. This book was also pink and the illustrations inside are really cute. Did I buy it just for that reason? It’s possible…
Basic Witches by Jaya Saxena and Jess Zimmerman- I bought this book back in the fall of 2017, but obviously never finished it and I’m finally ready for all its witchy knowledge.
Four Queens by Nancy Goldstone- I’m a huge nerd and I like reading historical non-fiction. I took this book from my parent’s house, so I don’t even know when it’s from. It’s about four sisters who all became queens in medieval France. I love stories about powerful, influential women from history.
The Beguiled by Thomas Cullinan- I also love historical fiction! From what I understand about this book it’s kinda in the same phycological-thriller vein that Sharp Objects is in, but set in the antebellum south. I bough it in an airport in 2017 but then I started having really bad anxiety so I thought that a thriller might not be the best idea.
Three Sisters, Three Queens by Philippa Gregory- I love Philippa Gregory. My mom bought me this book last Christmas and I never got around to reading it. More powerful influential sisters!
The Globe Guide to Shakespeare– My dad bought this for me last Christmas because of our mutual love of Shakespeare. It breaks down each of the plays so I think I’ll read it one play at a time in between other books, instead of trying to read it all at once.
Black Girl Magic by Various Authors- My boyfriend was in New York last spring when we had first started dating and they brought be back this book. I want to get more into poetry and since it’s a collections of poems by black women I think its the perfect place to start.
Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole and Elsyse Resch- I have had trouble with restriction and binging for years and I’m so over it. I want to learn to listen to my body and eat what I want to eat.
The Modern Guide to Witchcraft by Skye Alexander- More witchcraft! I bought this book around the same time as the other witch one but I was not ready for all it’s witchy knowledge.
Hormonal by Martie Haselton- I bought this book last fall and started it and it’s been on my bedside table ever since. It’s about recent research into female hormones, how they effect our daily lives, and what being “Hormonal” really means.
Victoria by Daisy Goodwin- Another Christmas gift from my mom. I read Goodwin’s The American Heiress and loved it, so I’m excited for Victoria. I watched a little of the mini series but I’m going to read the book before I finish it.
Bad Girls Throughout History by Ann Shen- This is the only book I got for Christmas this year! My wonderful friend Mia came through. I’ve been coveting this book for months and I’m so excited to finally have it.
The Virgin’s Lover by Philippa Gregory- Another Philippa Gregory because I just love her so much. I bought this and The Queen’s Fool (also Ms. Gregory) at a used book store in Michigan in like 2015. I read The Queen’s Fool, but never got around to this one.
